Happy National Playday 2012!

Today, 1st august 2012 has been what is becoming one of the highlights of the year in the Family Friendly community: Playday 2012.  And this years theme was to get out and play!

The Get out and play! campaign is calling on everyone to help make sure that children and young people across the UK have the time, space and opportunity to play outdoors. As well as promoting children’s right to play, the campaign is highlighting that outdoor play is crucial for children’s health, well-being and happiness.

This year, they are  also celebrating 25 years of Playday!

To celebrate this extra special Playday, we’re calling on everyone to make an extra special effort so children can play. The hundreds of events that happen across the country on Playday range from city-wide extravaganzas to celebrations with friends and neighbours. Big or small, what’s most important is that collectively we show that we support children’s right to play, and give children, their families and communities a day to remember.

Last year we held a KidzRockUk event, but this year, with the Olympics, we’ve held back, and are instead taking it as an oppportunity to announce the return of KidzRockUK to Mirfield In September!  Details will be released tomorrow.

But if you’re looking for events in the meantime, take a look here and click on your area to find out if something going on near you.  Otherwise visit Netmums to see if there’s anything else on.

Alternatively, look out for our future blog for low cost or free things to do with family this summer and beyond.
